ECIJA is accelerating its growth in Peru through the integration of Vidal & Cía. and new strategic incorporations

ECIJA provides a new boost to its growth strategy in Peru through a series of new hires, team integrations, and promotions that significantly enhance the capabilities of its Lima office in some of the most relevant areas for the business market.

The key development of this initiative is the integration of Vidal & Cía., a firm specialized in labor law led by Michael Vidal, who joins ECIJA as a partner along with his team. The agreement represents a significant step forward for the labor and employment litigation practice of the firm in Peru, both due to the addition of new capabilities and because of Vidal's track record and reputation in the Peruvian market.

With over 25 years of experience, Michael Vidal is one of the leading professionals in Peru in labor law and labor disputes, with extensive experience in consulting, litigation, collective bargaining, and labor dispute management. He has held leadership positions in firms such as Estudio Echecopar, EY, and Hernández & Cía., as well as leading Vidal & Cía. His career has been recognized by international legal directories such as Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and Leaders League. Michael also has a distinguished career in academia, as a university professor and former president of the Peruvian Institute of Labor Law and Social Security.

The reinforcement of this practice is complemented by the promotion of Martha Girón to partner and Alexandra Ortiz to head of the labor practice, strengthening the leadership structure of the team and consolidating one of the strategic areas for ECIJA's growth in the country.

At the same time, ECIJA significantly reinforces its tax practice with the appointment of Gabriela Saavedra as the Director of Tax, along with her team. With over 15 years of experience, Saavedra comes from Muñiz, Olaya, Meléndez, Castro, Ono & Herrera Abogados, where she served as partner in the tax area and directed advice to a broad portfolio of clients from various economic sectors.

Her experience encompasses tax advisory, tax planning, corporate restructuring, audits by SUNAT, contentious and non-contentious proceedings, tax due diligence, and litigation before the Tax Court and the Judicial Power. Gabriela holds a law degree from the National University Mayor de San Marcos and has completed specialized studies in international taxation and transfer pricing, digital taxation, annual accounts analysis, and international tax law.

The office has also appointed Eduardo Linares as the head of Compliance and Gaming, who joins from Ontier, along with a lawyer from his team. His appointment reinforces the firm's capabilities in compliance, data protection, legal and regulatory risk management, and specialized advice in the gaming sector.

In addition to these appointments, three new associate lawyers have joined the Labor, Corporate, and TMT teams, expanding the capacity of a firm that continues to grow both in the number of professionals and the range of specialties.
