João Magalhães Ramalho

He practices Tax Law with over 30 years of experience advising national and international clients on tax matters, with special focus on M&A, Real Estate, and Private Clients. He has regularly followed the Brazilian market since 2009.
He joined Barros Sobral, Xavier, G. Gomes & Associados in 1992, advising Prof. Dr. Alberto Xavier. From 1995 to 1999, he was Senior Consultant in Arthur Andersen’s Tax Consulting Department (now Deloitte). In 1999, he joined PLMJ, remaining until 2019 as Partner and head of the Tax Department and Brazilian Desk. From 2019 to 2023, he was Partner in TELLES’ Tax Department. He joined Antas da Cunha Ecija in 2024 as Partner and Co-Coordinator of the Tax Department.
He is the author of the book “The Tax Neutrality Regime in Merger, Demerger, Asset Contribution, and Share Exchange Operations - Comments on the IRC Code” and other technical articles, regularly contributing opinion pieces on taxation to newspapers. He holds the title of Specialist Lawyer in Tax Law from the Portuguese Bar Association and serves as an arbitrator judge at CAAD.
He has been with Antas da Cunha Ecija since 2024.
