The BCRA has authorised the opening of salary accounts in US dollars

Employers may choose to pay their staff’s wages in foreign currency, and employees will be able to access these funds in US dollars through the banking system.

In Communication “A8460”, the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic authorised the opening of salary accounts in US dollars, allowing employers to pay their staff’s wages in foreign currency.

The BCRA thus announced that it had decided “to include the US dollar as an accepted currency for the acceptance of deposits into the ‘salary account’ provided for in point 2.1 of the consolidated text on Savings, Salary and Special Accounts”.

Consequently, companies will be able to deposit salaries in foreign currency and employees will be able to access these funds through the banking system.
