SENAE establishes 100% customs control rate for products of Colombian origin
ECIJA Ecuador's Customs Law team presents a new briefing note on the recent resolution issued by the National Customs Service of Ecuador (SENAE), which establishes a 100% customs control rate applicable to goods coming from or originating in Colombia.
This measure has a direct impact on foreign trade operations, particularly for importers and operators that maintain trade relations with that country, generating new considerations in terms of costs, logistical planning and regulatory compliance.
The analysis developed by the team addresses the key aspects of the regulation, including its scope of application, the basis for calculating the fee, the obligated parties and the payment conditions. It also examines the exceptions and cases of non-application provided for in the resolution, which are fundamental elements for a correct interpretation and application of the measure.
In addition, the regulation establishes customs control mechanisms to be observed by operators, as well as provisions related to the settlement and payment of the fee, which reinforces the need for proper management of customs compliance.
This new regulatory scenario requires companies to review their import operations and strategies in order to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with the provisions in force.
