New cyber threat in Costa Rica: MICITT investigates massive data breach and how to avoid fraud

This week, Costa Rica’s Ministry of Science, Innovation, Technology and Telecommunications is investigating a new data breach, and our data protection expert, Mauricio París, spoke to El Financiero Costa Rica to assess the seriousness of the situation.
“On the dark web, this is probably the largest-scale data breach Costa Rica has ever seen – and, mind you, probably not even on an international scale,” warned París. “I am not aware of any other country where all its citizens’ photographs have been leaked.”
