Granting full legal personality to entities that lack consciousness, morality and the capacity to suffer (at least given the current state of technology) is not an act of innovation; it is a surrender of the law to technology.
In his opinion piece for El Financiero,Mauricio París writes: "The history of law shows that major legal innovations have always been responses to technological, economic or political challenges that exceeded the capacity of existing law to address them. But it also shows that the most enduring were those that balanced economic momentum with protection against abuses of power, whether political, economic or, now, algorithmic."
