Equal pay: deadline for reporting training extended to November 2026

Reports15 January 2026
The Ministry of Labour extended until 30 November 2026 the deadline for employers to report training and awareness-raising actions on equal pay. ECIJA Ecuador Labour Law team recalls this obligation and its implications.

In compliance with the Organic Law for Equal Pay for Women and Men, all public and private employers must carry out training and awareness-raising activities on equal pay. These activities were to be reported to the Ministry of Labour by January 2026, but by Ministerial Agreement No. MDT-2025-185, the deadline was extended to 30 November 2026.

The trainings must have a minimum duration of 40 hours per year and be addressed to all workers and legal representatives. The contents should address issues such as gender equality, labour rights, non-discrimination, eradication of violence and the principle of "equal work, equal pay".

ECIJA Ecuador Employment Law team, led by Francisco Dávalos, has prepared a briefing notedetailing the obligations and legal consequences of non-compliance with these regulations, including possible penalties of up to 20 unified basic salaries.
