From data to inference: the new challenge for data protection
Our associate Alegría Echeverría, from the TMT, Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection practice at ECIJA Ecuador, has contributed to issue No. 20 of LIR Ecuador with the article “From data to inference: the new challenge for data protection”.
In her analysis, she examines how artificial intelligence models can interpret patterns and draw inferences about individuals, even when certain conclusions have not been provided directly by the user.
Furthermore, the article examines the challenges this reality poses for current data protection frameworks, particularly in relation to principles such as transparency, accuracy and proactive accountability, and highlights the need to move towards a form of protection that considers not only the use of data, but also the inferences generated by technology.
