The firm adds strategic talent to consolidate its position as a legal benchmark for the digital economy in Mexico and Latin America.

ECIJA, an international law firm recognised for its leadership in Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) and Intellectual Property, announces the incorporation of a new team headed by Miguel Ángel Carpio as partner in its Mexico office.

Carpio joins a consolidated team of specialists, strengthening ECIJA's position as one of the firms with the greatest capacity in these matters at national level, in line with the vision of being the legal reference for digital economy businesses in Latin America.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Miguel Ángel Carpio is renowned for his advice to national and international companies in trademark, copyright, industrial property and legal strategy matters. His multidisciplinary approach and strategic vision have positioned him as a reference in highly dynamic ecosystems such as entertainment, technology and the digital economy. He is a certified member No. 085 of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI) and an official IP expert accredited by the Ministry of Public Education.

In addition, he has been sub-coordinator of the Working Group of the Nice Agreement in collaboration with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) and has extensive experience as a mediator in commercial and intellectual property matters. He has taught at universities such as the Universidad Anáhuac, the Universidad Iberoamericana and the Universidad del Mayab, and has attended specialisation programmes at institutions such as WIPO, the Asia-Pacific Industrial Property Centre in Japan and the University of South Africa (UNISA).

The new team includes Ernesto Erreguerena as Counsel, with a track record of almost three decades in intellectual property, particularly in patents, utility models and industrial designs with a practice focused on technology, media, telecommunications and entertainment sectors, also providing strategic solutions in the protection of intangible assets. This experience reinforces ECIJA's position at the intersection between innovation, digital economy and law. Since 2008 he has been a full professor of Intellectual Property Law at the Universidad Anáhuac.

Ricardo Chacón, Managing Partner of ECIJA Mexico, said: "With the arrival of this new team, Miguel Ángel and Ernesto, ECIJA takes a decisive step in its growth plan. We add top level talent that allows us to offer one of the most complete proposals in the IP and TMT market. This incorporation reflects our commitment to build a world-class practice in Mexico, capable of accompanying our clients in the most complex challenges of the digital economy".

With this strategic move, ECIJA Mexico expands its capacity to serve clients in sectors such as entertainment, telecommunications, technology, creative industries, digital platforms and emerging technology, consolidating a comprehensive and differentiated offering, backed by the Firm's international experience and forward-looking vision.
