ECIJA leads the defense of SKY Deutschland in a case of audiovisual piracy involving a fine of 42 million euros
ECIJA acted as legal advisor for the German company SKY Deutschland in the criminal proceedings conducted before the National High Court against one of the largest international networks involved in the illegal distribution of audiovisual content, for crimes against the market and the consumer, intellectual property crimes, and money laundering.
The Criminal Chamber of the National Court has issued a guilty verdict against the defendants, ordering direct compensation of 12 million euros to be paid to the injured parties, in addition to fines totaling nearly 30 million euros for money laundering.
ECIJA advised SKY Deutschland on all aspects of the proceedings, including the criminal procedural strategy and representation before the Supreme Court, with a team from the Compliance and Economic Crime practice led by partner Jorge Martínez, along with senior associate Paloma Caballero and associate Marta Coro.
