ECIJA launches its Legal Operations department with the incorporation of a team led by Rocío Catalá
ECIJA continues to advance in the deployment of its ECIJA Tech model with the launch of a global Legal Operations team, designed as a structural lever to transform the legal function and align it with business priorities. The initiative is part of ECIJA Tech, a practice with global reach and clients operating in multiple jurisdictions, and reinforces the firm’s ability to execute transformation projects from start to finish.
The launch is part of a clear roadmap that includes the appointment, in January, of Justo Garzón as global director of Legal Operations and Transformation, responding to ECIJA's ambition to build a more integrated, operational, and scalable legal services delivery model.
A Legal Operations team from PwC, led by Rocío Catalá, joins ECIJA, whose arrival represents a strategically important step for the development of the firm's Legaltech practice. This incorporation will significantly broaden the service offering, strengthen operational capabilities, and provide access to new clients and projects with an even more comprehensive and differentiated proposal. This move consolidates ECIJA's leadership in the market as a leading firm in the digital economy.
The new team is completed by Sara de Pablo Yángüez, director of Legal Operations, and Marta de Arespacochaga, associate of Legal Operations. The team has extensive experience in comprehensive transformation projects for large, national, and international corporate legal departments, combining operational diagnosis, process redesign, metric and KPI definition, technological implementation, automation, artificial intelligence, and change management.
ECIJA's Legal Operations practice is designed to respond to the new demands of legal departments: pressure on costs, the need to standardize and scale operations, greater traceability, and the accelerated adoption of technology. All this from a practical and impact-oriented approach, with real execution capacity in multi-jurisdictional contexts.
ECIJA's Legaltech unit has been working with the legal departments of large corporations for nearly a decade to transform and digitize their legal function, combining legal expertise and consulting capabilities to optimize processes, support decision-making, and generate real value for global clients. This comprehensive approach has allowed ECIJA to establish itself as a leader in legal transformation, recognized internationally as Band 1 in NewLaw – Legal Transformation Consulting by Chambers and Partners, and a market vision that integrates law and technology into a single team.
In the words of Alejandro Touriño, managing partner of ECIJA: "Legal departments are undergoing a profound transformation. It is no longer enough to offer technically excellent advice: it is essential to help design and implement more efficient and technological operating models that are ready to operate at scale. With the launch of this Legal Operations team, and after the incorporation of Justo Garzón, we are reinforcing one of the key elements of our model as a firm."
Rocío Catalá adds: "Legal operations are the meeting point between strategy, processes, data, and people. Our goal is to accompany legal departments in a real and sustainable transformation, especially in complex and multi-jurisdictional environments, where the operating model makes the difference."
With this launch, ECIJA consolidates its position as a leading firm in the transformation of the legal function, integrating Legal Operations as a central pillar of its value proposition and reinforcing its leadership in the new generation of high value-added legal services.
