ECIJA promotes female leadership with "Women who Transform".
In a sector where equity continues to be a challenge, ECIJA is consolidating its position as a benchmark in the promotion of female leadership. In this context, its auditorium in Madrid hosted "Mujeres que Transforman", an event organised by ECIJA by Women that brought together leaders from different sectors to discuss diversity, empowerment and the challenges of female leadership.
A tangible commitment to equality
The day began with the welcoming remarks of Teresa Pereyra, Partner at ECIJA and Head of ECIJA by Women, who highlighted:"ECIJA by Women is a global initiative led by more than 100 professionals of the firm, with the purpose of promoting equality, fostering female leadership and creating a more diverse and inclusive environment. We believe in leadership without labels and in the positive impact of diversity in business and society. This year, with 'Women who Transform', we reaffirm our commitment to real action: at ECIJA, we don't just talk about equality, we make it happen. We are once again the Spanish law firm with the highest percentage of female partners, because we are committed to female talent and its visibility in leadership positions. This is our work, vision and objective".
This year's Keynote Speaker was María Luisa Gutiérrez, producer and CEO of Bowfinger International Pictures SL, and winner of the Goya 2025 Award for Best Film for La Infiltrada. In her speech, she shared her personal and professional experience, highlighting the challenges of not having female role models and the pressure of adapting to masculinised environments.
"For a woman to become a role model without having female role models professionally is complicated. Be your own role model. I want to tell you that you can get there, that you must not give up on your dreams".
Moderated by Carla de la Vega, founder and CEO of IWEI, author and international speaker, the round table was attended by prominent leaders:
- Beatriz Arias Gago, Director of Digital Transformation at DigitalES.
- Sonia Marzo Arnaez, AI National Skills Director at Microsoft.
- Beatriz Martínez-Falero García, Legal Director and member of the Executive Committee at Mahou San Miguel, and Secretary of the Board of Directors of MAHOU, S.A.
- María Luisa Melo Navarro, Director of Public Affairs and Regulation for Europe at DHL Express.
The panellists agreed on the need to promote diversity and real equality in the workplace, addressing issues such as the imposter syndrome, the importance of quotas and the urgency of combating bias and structural machismo. They highlighted authenticity and the visibility of female talent as key pillars for sustainable change.
The event concluded with a conversation between Rosa Queipo de Llano Argote, General Secretary and General Manager of Legal Consultancy at Konecta, and Alejandro Touriño, Managing Partner at ECIJA. Both agreed on the importance of diversity as a strategic asset for organisations.
Alejandro Touriño highlighted: "Diversity gives us a richer response that improves the response to the problems that the new changing environment in which we live presents us with on a daily basis. The huge boost of ECIJA by Women is very important; it is a good moment to break taboos".
For her part, Rosa Queipo stressed the importance of adapting to change and working as a team: "If we want to, we can. Life is change, we have to be prepared for it".
The Women Who Transform event reaffirmed ECIJA's commitment to gender equality and the promotion of female talent in leadership positions, highlighting the importance of diversity as a driver of transformation in business and society. With a structured strategy and a network of committed professionals, ECIJA by Women will continue to lead initiatives that drive real and sustainable change.
