ECIJAEcuador participates in the legislative debate on the new Cinema Law in Ecuador
On 30 July, Paola Robalino Rosero, partner at ECIJA GPA, appeared before the Economic Development Commission of the National Assembly, in the framework of the construction process of the new Cinema Law, a key initiative for the strengthening of the Ecuadorian audiovisual sector.
During her intervention, Paola Robalino provided a strategic legal vision focused on the need to modernise the regulatory framework governing the creative industries in the country. In her participation, she proposed concrete measures aimed at facilitating investment, development and circulation of film and audiovisual content.
Among the most relevant points raised, the following stand out:
- The inclusion of tax exemptions applicable to royalties generated by audiovisual productions.
- The creation of a special visa regime for foreign professionals in the sector.
- The simplification of administrative processes for the hiring of international talent.
- A comprehensive review of the permits required for audiovisual production and distribution.
- Encouraging the dissemination of national productions on streaming platforms, as a tool for cultural promotion and international positioning.
"The legal framework must accompany the transformation of the creative industries. Film is a cultural, economic and country positioning tool that deserves a modern and accessible regulatory treatment," said Paola.
