ECIJA GPA analyses new customs duty on imports from Colombia

Reports27 January 2026
ECIJA GPA's Customs Law team analyses the legal and operational scope of the new customs control fee imposed on imports from Colombia, effective from 1 February 2026.

The National Customs Service of Ecuador (SENAE) has issued Resolution No. SENAE-SENAE-2026-0006-RE, which establishes a 30% ad valorem duty on goods entering from Colombia, effective from 1 February 2026.

In view of this provision, the Customs Law area of ECIJA GPA, under the analysis of director Víctor A. Murillo, presents a briefing note that summarises the key points of the measure: its legal basis, implications for importers, payment obligations and possible effects in relation to international agreements.

We invite you to review the full analysis, which details practical recommendations for companies that could be affected by this regulatory change.
