The new partner is joining the ECIJA office in Madrid to drive the growth of the practice and strengthen the advice provided to clients on property and town planning transactions.

ECIJA has appointed Cristina de Andrés Blanco to its Real Estate and Town Planning practice in Madrid, strengthening a strategic area for the firm and expanding its capacity to advise domestic and international investors on complex, high-value property transactions.

With over 18 years’ experience, Cristina de Andrés Blanco specialises in property and town planning law, combining extensive experience in transactional matters with a strong specialisation in town planning and administrative law. She regularly advises institutional investors, private equity funds, asset managers, property developers and financial institutions on domestic and cross-border transactions.

Her practice covers the entire property investment cycle, including acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, development projects, sale-and-leaseback transactions and financing, as well as town planning issues, authorisations, licences and other regulatory matters. Throughout her career, she has worked with some of the most active investors in the Spanish property market and has particular expertise in the logistics, residential and build-to-rent sectors, as well as student accommodation, hotels, offices and alternative property investments.

Cristina holds a degree in Law from the University of Valladolid and has furthered her training through specialisation programmes at IE Law School and Harvard Law School Executive Education.

Her career has been recognised by The Legal 500 EMEA in the Real Estate and Construction sector. She is also a member of Women in Real Estate Spain (WIRES) and Women in a Legal World (WLW).

Prior to joining ECIJA, Cristina spent more than eleven years practising at Jones Day. Before that, she spent eight years in the Town Planning department at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.

Cristina’s appointment follows the recent arrival of Iván Azinovic at ECIJA and marks a further step in the firm’s strategy to continue building a first-class property and town planning practice, capable of combining transactional, regulatory and business expertise.

In the words of Alejandro Touriño, CEO of ECIJA: “Cristina’s appointment significantly strengthens our capabilities in real estate and town planning. Her in-depth knowledge of the market, combined with her experience in both transactions and town planning, is an excellent addition to the team and enables us to offer even more comprehensive advice on highly complex property projects.”

For her part, Cristina de Andrés says: “I am very excited to be joining ECIJA and to have the opportunity to contribute my experience in the property and town planning sector to a project with a clear focus on growth and client service. I am particularly looking forward to working alongside Iván Azinovic and the rest of the team to continue driving the practice forward, offering personalised, rigorous and highly business-oriented advice.”

Cristina’s appointment forms part of the growth strategy that ECIJA is pursuing in Spain and follows on from the recent additions of Eva Santervás in Financial Regulation, Eduardo Gómez de Enterría in Employment Law and María Cortizas in Tax Law, as well as the integration of the LEAN Abogados team in Seville and the appointment of Juan Luis Moreno to lead The Garage by ECIJA.
