BeYou @ECIJA with Rocío Fuentes
Rocío Fuentes is part of the Finance Department at ECIJA, in the Accounting area, and her story goes beyond numbers and processes. It is a conscious decision: to move to a new city, start from scratch, and forge her own path based on a personal conviction.
"Daring to change when everything is going well is also a way to grow."
After several years of professional development in León and obtaining a master's in accounting, Rocío began to feel the need to take another step forward. Not out of lack of stability, but due to her curiosity and desire to learn. Madrid had always intrigued her, and ECIJA appeared as an opportunity to grow in a demanding and dynamic environment with a solid project. From the beginning, her connection with the team was natural.
Learning to work with precision and perspective
Upon joining ECIJA, Rocío expanded her view of accounting work. She discovered a more complete and demanding dimension, where attention to detail, planning, and organization are essential.
Beyond the technical component, accounting requires a structured way of thinking and an immense capacity for concentration. Every decision impacts the whole, and this sense of responsibility is an essential part of her daily work.
Financial work is rarely in the spotlight, but it supports much of the organization's daily activities. Rocío describes it as a chain where everything is connected and where coordination among teams is key. Her job is to ensure that processes run smoothly, that information is consistent, and that everything is aligned. It is a quiet, constant, and essential job that brings stability and order to the company as a whole.
"Often it's not a matter of stability, but of deciding what kind of life you want to build."
Starting from scratch in Madrid: deciding with intention
The change was swift and intense. In no time, Rocío closed a chapter in Castile and León, completed her training, and began a new life in Madrid.
From the start, she made practical decisions to ease her adaptation: living close to work, reducing commuting time, and gaining time for herself. Not for comfort, but as a conscious decision to maintain her balance.
Today, she has built a life according to her priorities, where work and personal well-being coexist in harmony.
Maintaining balance: sports, reading, and time for herself
For Rocío, balance means moving and breaking the mental routine that accounting work demands. Sports are a fundamental tool to relieve tension and change pace after intense days, especially activities that connect her with her environment and the present.
She especially enjoys live music, mountain hiking, and climbing. These are spaces where she can disconnect, gain perspective, and recharge.
Reading has also become a priority. Before, she reserved it for “when she had everything done”. Now she sees it as a conscious act of self-care, and her book club encourages it.
"Taking the time to read is also a way to take care of oneself."
Choosing how to spend her time, both inside and outside of work, is another way to make decisions with intention and coherence.
Rocío Fuentes represents an essential part of the machinery at ECIJA: rigor, coherence, and a sense of responsibility. Her story shows that professional growth does not always mean changing roles, but daring to change context and make intentional decisions. At ECIJA, she has found an environment where she can develop, add value, and build her career without sacrificing her personal balance.
