Alejandra Pinto: organisation, continuous learning and a practice that never stands still
Alejandra Pinto is a Senior Associate in the Data Protection and Media department at ECIJA Ecuador. Her career combines international training, practical experience and a way of working characterised by organisation, leadership and a constant desire to learn.
After studying Law at the University of Navarra and completing a master’s degree in Madrid, Alejandra began her professional career in Spain. It was there that she gained her first experiences in the legal world, dealing with court hearings, procedural matters and the learning curve typical of someone starting to build a career through practical experience.
Her arrival at ECIJA GPA coincided with an important personal decision: to return to Ecuador. The firm presented an opportunity that aligned with her experience in Spain and her desire to apply her specialisation in a dynamic practice linked to technology, compliance and direct client relations.

A constantly evolving practice
What she likes most about the Data Protection field is that no two days are ever the same. For Alejandra, this practice requires constant learning, an understanding of different industries and the ability to develop solutions that address each client’s specific circumstances.
“What I like most is the learning curve. No two days are ever the same.”
Her work combines legal judgement, business acumen and the ability to explain complex issues clearly. In particular, she enjoys working with corporate groups, as they present more challenging structures and require her to think creatively, efficiently and practically.
For her, compliance should not be a barrier to a client’s operations, but rather a tool that streamlines processes and enables better decision-making.

Organisation, leadership and teamwork
Within the team, Alejandra believes her colleagues recognise her for her ability to organise projects, follow up on them and keep things moving. This aspect, which she describes as very much part of her personality, is also reflected in the way she works.
“I think they see me as someone who keeps things moving.”
Alejandra particularly values leaders who teach, support and trust. She believes that trust enables growth, allows people to take on responsibility and facilitates learning by doing.
“The trust your leader places in you is what enables you to grow.”
She also highlights the sense of camaraderie she has found at ECIJA GPA. She came from a work culture that was more confined to the professional sphere, and upon joining the firm, she found a more open, people-centred and collaborative atmosphere.
Over time, his colleagues also became friends, something he now considers one of the most valuable aspects of his experience at the firm.
Reconnecting to return with renewed energy
Outside work, Alejandra finds balance in Pilates, family, travel and moments that allow her to reconnect with herself. After several years living abroad, spending time with her family has become particularly important.
She also enjoys exploring Ecuador, visiting natural sites, going to markets, and discovering fruits, flowers and places that remind her of the country’s diversity.
“I love experiencing our country first-hand.”
She describes herself as a spiritual and energetic person. When she needs inspiration or feels she needs to take a break, she looks for simple activities to help her clear her mind: spending time with her family, going out with friends, trying new restaurants or simply switching off from the pace of work.
“I need to reconnect with myself to come back feeling recharged.”
Looking to the future
Over the next few years, Alejandra wants to continue working closely with clients, listening to their needs and helping them find solutions. For her, one of the greatest satisfactions of her profession is when someone comes to her with a problem and she can support them until they find an answer.
She also wants to continue delving deeper into technology, artificial intelligence and data protection – areas she considers particularly relevant for the future.
“What I’m most passionate about is data, because it’s new, interesting and constantly evolving.”
