Beyou @ECIJA Ecuador with Andrés Vásconez

Reports21 May 2026
Andrés Vasconez, Senior Intellectual Property Associate at ECIJA Ecuador, shares his professional and personal career, marked by resilience and the protection of intangible assets.

Andrés is a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property area of ECIJA Ecuador. His story speaks of curiosity, perseverance and a way of practising law marked by attitude, closeness to people and the permanent search for solutions.

"Work hard in the present to obtain a decent future".

His interest in Intellectual Property was born during his university years and consolidated in his first professional experiences. Later on, his time at the National Intellectual Rights Service marked a before and after in his career, especially when he got to know closely the enforcement and infringement procedures in this area.

Since then, Andrés has oriented his practice towards the protection of trademarks, patents, copyrights and other intangible assets, understanding that Intellectual Property not only protects ideas, but also creativity, innovation and value in the market.

Building on enforcement

For Andrés, one of the biggest professional challenges within ECIJA Ecuador is to contribute to consolidate a practice specialised in IP enforcement and infringements.

His previous experience allowed him to know this matter from an institutional perspective. Today, from the firm, he accompanies clients in the design of strategies, administrative tutelage and judicial proceedings, with a practical and results-oriented approach.

" The great challenge is to create and establish a strong area of enforcement, which can position itself as a reference in Ecuador and, why not, also in Latin America".

That vision reflects his commitment to a practice that requires technical knowledge, strategic judgment and the ability to understand the real impact that intellectual rights have on business.

Connecting with people

What he enjoys most about his work is the ability to connect with people, understand their needs and translate complex legal concepts into clear solutions.

For Andrés, advising on IP also involves educating, guiding and helping clients understand the value of what they have built. A brand, for him, is not just a name or a logo: it is an asset with its own value in the marketplace.

"I like to be able to connect with people, understand what they need and explain how IP can protect what they have built".

His main differentiating value is attitude. Andrés believes that predisposition, energy and the way a person faces challenges can make the difference within any team.

Resilience in and out of law

Resilience is a word that runs through his story. Before coming to law, Andrés thought about studying medicine. Although that path didn't happen, he found in law a new destiny and an opportunity to build a purposeful career.

"It wasn't my first choice, but I ended up finding in law my new destiny."

That way of looking at life is also reflected in his personal passions. Outside of work, Andrés finds balance in his family, his girlfriend, football, travel and horses. Although he is allergic, horse riding remains one of his biggest hobbies.

"Although I am allergic, horse riding is one of my biggest hobbies. For me it represents that, even if there is a difficulty, you can always find a way to keep going."

Travelling also occupies an important place in his life. For him, getting out of the routine allows him to clear his head, gain perspective and return with more energy to keep moving forward.

A firm with a sense of family

For Andrés, working at ECIJA Ecuador means professional growth, peace of mind and the possibility of learning from great leaders and professionals. He also values the sense of family he has found in the firm, both in Ecuador and in other countries.

"Knowing that you can go to another country and find an ECIJA office that welcomes you with the same values is something great."

His story reflects a clear conviction: challenges are not brakes, but opportunities to seek new solutions.

Andrés Vasconez represents the value of practising law with attitude, authenticity and purpose. His trajectory reminds us that talent is also built from resilience, closeness and passion to keep learning.
