Launch of the AESIA Laboratory of Ideas as a space for analysis and reflection to anticipate the impacts of AI and strengthen ethical, expert and participatory governance.
AESIA has launched an AI Ideas Lab to anticipate and analyse the social and regulatory impacts of artificial intelligence in Spain. The new think tank was presented on 9 April in A Coruña, starting with four work fronts that deserve monitoring: deepfakes and disinformation, biases and digital violence against women, protection of minors and the labour market.
Key points:
- New think tank: the AESIA has set up a new think tank to "anticipate, analyse and evaluate" the impacts of AI and strengthen Spain's position in the development of trusted AI. The Lab will have an Advisory Committee of around 30 people from academia, public, business and trade unions.
- Priorities: its four priorities for the first year are dignity and image of women, misinformation and deepfakes, safe digital environments for minors and the labour market.
- Practical value: Organisations developing, integrating or deploying AI tools will have early warning of where there will be greater institutional sensitivity, such as in the use of synthetic images and deepfakes, protection of vulnerable groups, AI applied to minors and governance of labour impact.
