AEFI welcomes ECIJA as its new legal partner
The AEFI has appointed ECIJA as its new lead legal partner, with the aim of strengthening the legal and regulatory support it offers to companies forming part of the financial and insurance innovation ecosystem in Spain. Under this agreement, ECIJA will make its knowledge and expertise available to the AEFI and its members in some of the most strategic areas for the sector, including financial regulation, payment methods, digital assets, data protection, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, financing, technology contracts and regulatory compliance.
Following this agreement, AEFI and ECIJA will work together to analyse the main legislative and regulatory developments affecting the FinTech and InsurTech ecosystem, as well as to develop reports, conferences, professional meetings and proposals that help to create a more favourable environment for innovation, investment and the sector’s sustainable growth. The collaboration will also strengthen engagement with public administrations, regulators, supervisors and other key industry stakeholders, fostering dialogue between the private sector and institutions and helping to anticipate the impact of new regulatory frameworks on business models.
The partnership also coincides with the strengthening of ECIJA’s Financial Regulation practice following the appointment of Eva Santervás as a partner, expanding the firm’s capabilities to advise the financial sector at the intersection of regulation, technology and new business models.
Arturo Mac Dowell, president of the Spanish Fintech and Insurtech Association (AEFI), notes that “the addition of ECIJA as a partner represents a significant boost for AEFI and for our members at a time when regulation and technology are profoundly transforming the financial sector. Drawing on their experience and specialist knowledge will enable us to continue anticipating regulatory changes, create opportunities for analysis and debate and, above all, provide companies within the ecosystem with tools to help them innovate and grow within a secure and competitive framework”.
For his part, Alejandro Touriño, CEO of ECIJA, emphasises: “Becoming part of AEFI means joining one of the organisations that best represents the innovative capacity of the Spanish financial and insurance sector. We share the conviction that well-designed regulation must provide security and confidence, whilst also fostering innovation, investment and the development of new business models. The recent strengthening of our Financial Regulation practice, combined with our expertise in technology and the digital economy, enables us to offer a particularly cross-cutting perspective to help AEFI and its members anticipate changes and turn regulatory and technological challenges into opportunities for growth.”
ECIJA’s appointment as AEFI’s legal partner forms part of the firm’s long-standing involvement with the digital economy, technology and innovation, combining legal expertise, sector-specific specialisation and technological capabilities to support organisations in the design and development of new business models within secure, competitive and responsible environments.
