ECIJA reaffirms its commitment in Peru by incorporating Aldo Cornejo to strengthen its corporate and M&A practice
Prior to joining ECIJA, Aldo was a partner at Ontier Peru, where he led the Corporate Law and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) practice, advising on complex transnational transactions and consolidating his prestige as a strategic lawyer in the Peruvian legal market.
With more than 23 years of professional experience, Cornejo specialises in Corporate Law and M&A. He has been recognised by the international rankings Leaders League and The Legal 500 in these areas, and has worked in leading financial institutions such as Scotiabank and Banco de Crédito del Perú. In addition, he served as Corporate Legal Manager of the Gloria Group, where for almost nine years he led the legal areas of the different companies of the group in countries such as Ecuador, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, Argentina, Peru and Uruguay.
He holds a Law degree from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), with a specialisation in Business Law with a major in Finance, and a Master's degree in Corporate Legal Consultancy from IE Law School (Spain).
For Eduardo Benavides, Managing Partner of ECIJA Peru, "Aldo's incorporation is a clear example of our commitment to attract the best talent in the legal sector. His extensive experience and deep knowledge in key areas of business law reinforce our commitment to strategic growth in the transactional area. This incorporation, aligned with our multidisciplinary expansion strategy, will allow us to strengthen our value proposition for clients in Peru and throughout the region.
Aldo Cornejo says: "I am very excited about this new professional challenge in a firm like ECIJA. The firm represents an ambitious and transformative project, with a unique combination of innovation, international projection and legal excellence. I am convinced that together we can continue to make a real impact on the development of business in Peru and Latin America".
The Lima office is going through a period of solid growth. The arrival of Cornejo joins the recent incorporation of Edgardo Mercado as partner, consolidating a high-level team. This incorporation is also part of ECIJA's global expansion process, which has recently added Arpine Abgaryan and Constanza Cassino as new partners in its Barcelona and Buenos Aires offices, respectively.
