ECIJA appoints David Bedoya as managing partner in Colombia and integrates four new top partners, consolidating its leadership in Latin America with a focus on technology and digital economy.

The company, present in Colombia since 2021, is now taking a decisive step in its consolidation in the country, strengthening its structure by integrating a group of top-level partners and professionals who bring proven experience in all areas of business law.

Leading the project will be David Bedoya, lawyer from the Universidad de los Andes and LL.M. in International Tax Law from Leiden University, with over 25 years of experience in tax law, business structuring, and corporate consulting. Bedoya has advised local and international companies on tax planning, wealth management, and tax litigation, and before joining ECIJA, he founded his own boutique firm and worked at Ernst & Young Colombia, Brigard & Urrutia, and Houthoff Buruma in the Netherlands.

The corporate area is significantly strengthened with the arrival of Nicolás Barón, until now managing partner of Laserna & Barón, with over 23 years of experience in corporate and financial law for large entities.

With the integration of the boutique Vanegas Morales, a leader in privacy and data protection in Colombia, new partners Stella Sofía Vanegas Morales and Alejandro Londoño join. Vanegas, the founder of the firm, is a reference in TMT and data protection in the region, recognized by Chambers and Legal 500, and has a distinguished career as legal director at Experian Colombia and in the Financial Superintendency. Londoño, for his part, is one of the leading experts in privacy and technological regulation in the country, former Delegated Superintendent for Personal Data Protection in the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce and professor at the Universidad de los Andes.

Furthermore, Daniel Acevedo joins from EY, recognized as a reference in legaltech and distinguished with the FastCase50 Award as one of the 50 global leaders in legal innovation. He has been recognized by multiple publications and organizations as one of the most influential global leaders in legal innovation and technology. His experience encompasses pioneering projects in responsible artificial intelligence and digital transformation in international companies and tech firms, and he will be key in the expansion of ECIJA Tech in the region.

Alejandro Touriño, managing partner at ECIJA, noted: “This move responds to our expansion strategy in Latin America, which aims to establish ECIJA as the go-to company in legal innovation in key markets like Colombia. The arrival of four top partners, along with their teams, allows us to continue differentiating ourselves in the digital ecosystem and reinforcing our commitment to accompany clients in their technological and business challenges.”

With this restructuring, ECIJA strengthens its position as the largest Spanish law firm in Latin America, with a marked specialization in technology and digital economy. The arrival of these four partners and their teams is part of the company's growth plan, which aims to achieve 150 million euros in revenue by 2028, with Latin America as a key driver of its international expansion.

With a presence in 18 countries and over 1,400 professionals, ECIJA establishes itself as a reference player in the legal ecosystem of the region, with a differential model that combines technological innovation, business vision, and a full-service practice.
