ECIJA appoints Xavi Muñoz Bellvehí as the new managing partner of its Barcelona office
ECIJA has announced the appointment of Xavi Muñoz Bellvehí as the new managing partner of its Barcelona office, a strategic location for the firm since its opening in 2010, which currently has 20 partners and more than 50 lawyers. Muñoz replaces Gabriel Nadal, who has led the office in recent years.
A member of the global Management Committee and part of the founding team of the office over 15 years ago, Muñoz takes on this responsibility with the aim of consolidating ECIJA's growth in Catalonia, strengthening its position as a leading firm and enhancing Barcelona's contribution to the firm's global project.
This appointment is part of ECIJA's strategy to decentralise its leadership, promote each of its offices as centres of legal and technological excellence, and strengthen its presence in key markets for the digital economy.
Specialising in commercial law and recognised for his experience in regulated sectors such as telecommunications and gaming, Muñoz has advised some of the most important national and international companies in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), regulation, digital content, AI, and technological innovation. His track record and in-depth knowledge of the Catalan business ecosystem make him the ideal candidate for this new role.
"Our goal is to strengthen the ECIJA brand in Catalonia, attract the best talent, and embrace the rapid technological changes that are redefining our profession. The firm has entrusted me with leading this project, and I face it with the determination to take the Barcelona office to the top," Muñoz states.
For Hugo Écija, executive president of the firm, "Xavi's appointment reinforces our commitment to growth and excellence in all markets where we operate. His leadership and vision will be key to consolidating our position in the Catalan market".
Muñoz starts this new phase with a clear conviction that: "We have a leading brand, a unique position in the digital economy, presence in 18 jurisdictions, top-tier clients, and, above all, an extraordinary team both at a personal and professional level. We approach this new stage with enthusiasm and responsibility to continue building an even stronger ECIJA".
