The Lawyer recognizes ECIJA as law firm of the year in Europe and the Iberian Peninsula, consolidating its leadership based on innovation, culture and sustained growth in European law.

ECIJA has today achieved one of the most significant milestones in contemporary European law by being recognized as Law Firm of the Year in Europe at The Lawyer European Awards 2025, the highest accolade awarded by the prestigious British publication. The firm was also named Iberian Law Firm of the Year, ahead of leading international and national firms such as Greenberg Traurig, Reed Smith, Hengeler Mueller, Garrigues, Uría, Cuatrecasas and Pérez-Llorca.

The jury highlighted the strategic conviction, the cohesive culture, and the model of growth and innovation of ECIJA as differentiating factors that are redefining the standards of legal practice in Europe.

At the same time, in an equally historic night for the firm, ECIJA was awarded at the Legal 500 Iberian Awards 2025, held at the Four Seasons hotel in Madrid, as TMT Law Firm of the Year in the Iberian Peninsula.

In the same ceremony, Teresa Pereyra, partner at ECIJA, was recognized as Next Generation Partner of the Year by Legal 500 in Privacy and Data Protection, reinforcing the firm’s leadership in one of the most mature and promising regulatory areas of the market.

An evening that defines a firm model

These awards come just a week after ECIJA's annual partner meeting, where the firm reaffirmed its strategic vision with a message that summarizes its competitive position: “we are unique, we are leaders.” The awards this evening confirm that this message is not just an internal statement, but a reality recognized by the European and global market.

Alejandro Touriño, managing partner of ECIJA, emphasizes: "This is the most important night in history

Alejandro Touriño, managing partner of ECIJA, emphasizes: “This is the most important night in ECIJA’s history in terms of recognition. Being chosen as Law Firm of the Year in Europe places us among the elite of the continental legal profession and validates a model based on culture, innovation, leadership in artificial intelligence, and purpose. Today, it is the market that affirms what we have always defended: we are unique and we are leaders.”

Hugo Écija, executive chairman of the firm, adds: “This success is not the result of a single year, but of a conviction: that an independent firm with Ibero-American DNA can lead Europe through innovation, diversity, and talent. It is a collective success that belongs to our entire team.”
