Analysis of the transposition of Directive (EU) 2019/882 and table of obligations to comply with accessibility requirements for products and services
The main objectives of the Directive are:
- create an environment in which products and services are more accessible to people with disabilities and
- to remove barriers to the free movement of certain accessible products and services by eliminating regulatory
accessible products and services, eliminating the existing regulatory disparities in the Member States.
To this end, the Directive establishes requirements and obligations for different economic agents involved in the manufacture, sale and use of products and service providers in different sectors, who must adapt the design of products, devices, services or environments so that they can be used by people with disabilities under equal conditions.
The aim of this note is to set out in an executive manner the key elements of the Directive and its transposition into Spanish law and to identify the different obligations that economic agents (manufacturers, authorised representatives, importers, distributors and service providers) must assume in relation to the products and services that fall within the scope of application of the Law.
